ST. BRIGID'S PRIESTESS

St. Brigid's Priestess Series researches Celtic Tuath Dé Danann mythology, ancient symbolism and the continued development of acrylic textile painting techniques. The series explores St. Brigit's Priestesses through nineteenth multimedia portraits associated with the nineteen components of the Great Lunar Year, as outlined in Marian Youngblood’s Sidereal View Blog. Youngblood discusses an interconnection to Māyā (Sanskrit: माया), the ancient Vedic term for an illusion of form, the sacred numeric calculation of nineteen and the creation of cyclic pattern divination.

"For any given solar calendar date, full Moon events will replicate every nineteen years. This creates a cyclic loop back to pre-Celtic mythic nineteen Priestess of Bridget/Brigantine. Each of these individual priestesses represented a character or experience associated with nineteen components of the Great Lunar Year. This relationship creates an excellent basis for cyclic pattern divination."

Envisioning these cyclic patterns occurring in many forms, connecting the cosmos to the earth ("As above, so it is below. That which has been, will return again. As in heaven, so on earth."– Hermes Trismegistus) such as DNA helix (biology) or sine wave (sound), incorporated as symbolism throughout the series.
